Wiltshire 3 Day Workshop Report

21st Apr 2013

We are now at the half way point of my April 3 day Wiltshire Workshop and although we stayed out late last night to photograph the sunset at West Kennet Long Barrow everyone was up early for a sunrise the next day, this time at Silbury Hill.

The worshop started on Friday morning when we all got to grips with the standard camera settings for landscape photography, looked at composition and hyperfocal distance focusing. Using the cameras 'live view' and 'hyperfocal distance' focusing was new to most of the group so we spent some time practicing these techniques in a classroom environment. Later that day we headed out to the Kennet and Avon Canal to put into practice our newly learned camera skills, it was heartwarming to over hear some of the participants comments like "I can really see the benefit of doing things this way", or "I'm really enjoying myself and I can see my images are improving already".

Now on the second day we have stopped for a leisurely lunch before heading back into the classroom to learn a bit about RAW image processing and using Adobe Lightroom, we will also be reviewing our images and looking to see how they can be improved through processing or what would we do different if we could take the image again. Later this evening its out again for another sunset to Oliver's Castle, an excellet location for some colourful, summer sunsets.
